Fox News doesn’t want to cover the Chris Christie scandal and would much rather talk about President Obama’s “scandals.”
Here’s a headline today on Fox News.
“Christie crackdown ups scrutiny over Obama’s scandal response”
Yes, let’s talk about Obama’s scandals.
Once you’re on Fox News, you don’t have to go far because Benghazi is the front page story on Fox News right now.
Here’s the thing though, the difference between Obama’s faux scandals is that there’s actually not any evidence of a conspiracy. With the Christie story there’s clearly a conspiracy, the only questions are whether Christie was directly involved in the conspiracy, and what was the true motive of the perpetrators of the conspiracy.
Interestingly, Christie admitted in his press conference yesterday that he doesn’t care why his top officials engaged in a conspiracy to shutdown Fort Lee.
One theory is that the motive behind the actions of Christie’s staff are rooted in his fight with the state legislature over judicial nominees. If that comes out as the motive, it would push the decision making process that led to the bridge shutdown closer to the governor’s desk.
As Rachel Maddow reported last night, Christie admits that the endorsement by the Fort Lee mayor was not on his radar. So if that wasn’t the reason for shutting down the toll booths, what was the motive?
The day before Christie’s deputy chief of staff sent the message to the Port Authority Christie appointee in August saying that it’s time for traffic problems in Fort Lee, Christie called Democrats in the state legislature “animals.”
Christie was furious over the fight Democrats are waging with him and his judicial nominees to the state supreme court. The leader of the senate Democrats represents Fort Lee.
Whatever the motives, there was clearly a plan set in place to shutdown those lanes down and mess with Fort Lee prior to when the text messages in August started flying around.
Knowing what those motives are could go a long way in determining who was involved in this conspiracy.
But, yes, let’s talk about Benghazi.
