Robert Scheer is the editor of Truthdig.com. He’s supposed to be a liberal. He’s supposed to be smart. What shocked me about his column today was that he too just doesn’t get it. Read what he wrote about Norman Podhoretz, and then I’ll explain why he’s wrong. In a WSJ article from last September headlined… Read more »

I hate call-in programs because rarely does a caller make a valid or intelligent point. On Monday, C-SPAN’s Bill Scanlan got a call from North Carolina complaining that “80 percent of your callers” are black and that C-SPAN should change its name to BLACK-SPAN. The caller said that he was just making “a little respectful… Read more »
I hate cable news. At least 99 percent of all cable news is a bag of throwaway garbage that serves no purpose other than to confuse, distract, misinform and stink up the room. The same can be said about talk radio. It’s not that broadcasting can’t be used to inform and educate the populous, sometimes… Read more »
On his radio show today, Glenn Beck disagreed with a nun who said that Jesus would support the recently passed health care reform bill.
As is often the case with Beck’s radio show – it got racial and ignorant.
As of March 10, the Glenn Beck’s Fox News show has lost 120 advertisers. In the UK, Beck’s show has been running without any advertisers for more than a month. But while advertisers are fleeing, the mainstream media has yet to utter a peep about it.
Every Friday some people, politicians, corporations and government bureaucracies, slip out news they don’t want people to pay attention to. The assumption is that most people aren’t paying attention on Friday. That’s true for most, but not me.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is consistently hilarious. But on Monday’s show, Stewart almost made me pee my pants.
The bit was about CNN’s Rick Sanchez, the earthquake in Chile and the tsunami that never hit Hawaii. I don’t know if Sanchez was on caffeine, cocaine or crank, but he’s all over the place and Stewart nails it.
Martha Maccallum of Fox News “debated” health care reform with Bob Beckel and Kate Obenshain today.
The segment is called “Health Care Countdown: Debating the Differences.”
Media consultant Joel Silberman explains why Americans are so misinformed about just about anything political. Silberman said the fault should be placed squarely on the shoulders of the mainstream media for perpetuating the “big lie.” Silberman’s theory is that the right-wing echo chamber repeats the “big lie” over and over again until it becomes the… Read more »
Vanity Fair’s James Verini wrote a story about The Exile. The Exile was an angry Russian newspaper Matt Taibbi worked on during the 1990s that was shutdown by the Russian government.
The only question remaining now is whether former Vice President Dick Cheney personally participated in waterboarding people. When it comes to torture, hell yes, Cheney was totally on board.
On Sunday, Cheney unequivocally stated the Bush administration tortured prisoners. On ABC’s “This Week” Cheney said, “I was a big supporter of waterboarding.”
Here is Sarah Palin’s Facebook posting made on Feb. 17, 2010. In an effort to maintain the public record, Palin’s entire message is published here. It was downloaded from Palin’s Facebook page on Feb. 17, 2010 at 11:04 a.m. Eastern. Stimulus Bill Anniversary Proves Not-So-Stimulating Feb. 17, 2010 at 7:04am One year ago today, President… Read more »
Sarah Palin is fuming mad. The Fox cartoon show “Family Guy” made a crack at her and she’s told her daughter Bristol to take it public and make it personal. According to Palin’s Facebook page, watching Sunday’s “Family Guy” episode “felt like another kick in the gut.” Who knew she was a fan? Evidently, her… Read more »
Here’s a video I found on the Internet. I wish I could recall where I got this, but I don’t. It’s an interesting report by Mike Wallace of CBS. It’s surprisingly well-balanced considering the attitude towards homosexuals more than 40 years ago.
Fox News broadcast an edited version of the Bill O’Reilly interview with Jon Stewart. Not inherently a bad thing, but some have suggested that it made O’Reilly look like he nailed Stewart. Here’s the entire unedited version of the interview.
Technology makes producing content cheap. And sometimes that content is advertising and on Facebook this chick sitting on the floor in a tanktop is what?
Sarah Palin is paranoid. She hates journalists, despite the fact that Palin got her undergraduate degree in communications with an emphasis on journalism. And to prove just how paranoid, clueless and utterly ignorant she is, Palin has an enemies list and it includes four Alaska bloggers.
The headline might leave a salty, perhaps putrid, taste in your mouth, but Greg Sargent’s blog post “Journalists Cheerfully Urinating On Senate Bill’s ‘Ideological’ Critics” makes a good point.
Evidently during President George W. Bush’s White House career millions of e-mail messages were lost. Two advocacy groups sued to have the messages recovered and restored to Bush’s presidential legacy, but it appears some of those e-mail messages are gone for good.
A recent CNN public opinion poll shows that Sarah Palin’s favorable rating is now higher than former Vice President Dick Cheney.
