Here’s a fun fact. The 21st century Republican Party is a terrorist political organization.
The problem for the GOP is that they can’t win elections. The solution is not to come up with more compelling policies. No, the Republican Party has decided that rather than worry about winning elections, they’ll just take a few hostages instead.
“If you don’t get rid of Obamacare, the economy sleeps with the fishes.”
And then to make things even more ridiculous, GOP House Speaker John Boehner said that it would be “irresponsible” for him to not drive the economy into the proverbial ditch.
Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said that it’s Obama’s fault that the GOP has shuttered the federal government because Obama is refusing to negotiate.
Some Republicans are even claiming that the Democrats want the government shuttered.
But back to those hostages, the first rule of hostage-taking situations is that you never negotiate with terrorists. Once you do, it’s fair game for any group of nuts to make the same threat to get what they can’t achieve through the normal political process.
It wasn’t always like this.
Not too long ago, the GOP at least pretended to care what average Americans thought on the issues.
