Arizona Governor Jan Brewer embarrassed herself on Wednesday when she debated her opponent for this election. Now she says, to hell with debates, she’s not doing them anymore.
“I don’t believe that things come out in proper context in an adversarial atmosphere,” Brewer said. (TPM)
Yeah, why should she defend her positions in front of voters? She’s leading in the polls, it makes sense to just ride it out until November. And besides, the only reason she did Wednesday’s debate was for the money.
The Arizona Daily Star reported that according to Brewer “the only reason she debated him on Wednesday is she had to to qualify for more than $1.7 million in public funds for her campaign.”
It’s all about the Benjamen’s for Brewer, and besides, everyone knows where she and opponent stand on the issues, so why bother debating?
The Daily Star reported, “Brewer said she has been in elective office for 28 years, and Goddard has held office for nearly that long. ‘I think it’s pretty defined what he stands for and what I stand for.'”
Perhaps Brewer is going to take a page from Sarah Palin’s playbook and just sidestep the “lamestream media” altogether, and use social media like Twitter and Facebook to promote her positions. That’s a lot easier, because then you don’t have to answer any of those annoying questions from reporters or constituents.
“I certainly will take my message in a different venue out to the people of Arizona,” Brewer told the Daily Star.
And like she said, she already got that $1.7 million from taxpayers to run her campaign.
